XVI, XXII: introduction and 253p., 3 folded engravings. Cont. h.calf. Dfl. 2.600,= = Ward and Carozzi, 1026. Dfl. 6.500,= = Ward and Carozzi, 1027. Rare and highly enlarged (and corrected) text and plates! The first edition (1801) only had 86 plates. This curious text-book for french youth has been written in a dialogue form between Mme de Beaumont, Gustave and Caroline and treats all kinds of minerals in 16 chapters. This Mme de Beaumont may well be the wife of the famous Elie de Beaumont, the author of the Notice sur les systèmes de montagne (1852) which we urgently need! We have also his famous Traité de Minéralogie in the second edition and the Journal des Mines, in which he published a lot, being vols. 1-38 with 2 indexes (1794-1815): all publ. at Dfl. 12.500, =. All titlepages have library stamps and most plates on verso too. Some pages waterstained at bottom and some few plates too but rather inoffensive.
